The Great Family Escape - Galo Resort - Madeira - Sentido Hotels

On our first afternoon we headed to the pool, at 3pm, for the beginning of may the sun beautifully blessed us for a good few hours, around 25 degrees, I didn’t quite expect such delightful weather for this time of year - our first time on the breathtaking island, and first impressions marvellous.

After having had a recent refurbishment, Galosol had reopened for the season with a classy, modern and stylish vibe. The rooms are fresh and luxurious with views to take your breath away. The resort is premium across the board, from the scenery and friendly staff….to the high quality selection of food at the restaurant…Fresh, first class and delicious.

We sampled both food from breakfast, the snack/lunch menu, al a carte and the evening buffet - Extremely good value for the quality and range. There is also fine selection of wines and premium cocktails on offer just as reasonably priced as the delicious food. Breakfast was outstanding, we ate in the warm sun, next to the pool and luscious views. Really great quality and a decent selection with perfect coffee and a wonderful choice for the kids. We spent a while at breakfast to take in the views and relaxing vibe, one of the loveliest breakfast experiences we’ve had the pleasure of enjoying.

During the evening buffet as the sun went down, we soaked up the peaceful atmosphere, the food was second to none, the children selected their own dishes, from steak to seafood, high quality deserts and a mini ice-cream parlour with a huge choice of toppings - not the usual hustle and bustle of a buffet. We finished our ice creams and drinks watching the sun go down across from the pool as we moved to comfy couches….as a single parent this was an effortless and calm evening.

The resort is just 12km from the bustling city of Funchal, the tranquil area was the perfect first step into the island for us, Sentido Galosol is in equal parts a safe and fun environment for families or parents travelling alone like myself as it is a beautiful getaway to recharge your batteries and top up on your self care necessities, relaxation, fitness and health. We spent one afternoon in the fresh salt water pool atop the sea with direct access into the clear enticing water just below… the children had the chance to see crabs and fish as they climbed in they loved the excitement of seeing these little guys swim and crawl around! There are so many enriching activities on offer (some chargeable) including panoramic saunas, fitness classes, kayaking, golf, bike rental, personal training, diving, hiking and the most stunning surroundings for your morning run!
